Why are people drawn to cassette tapes today? A cafe where you can listen to tapes, a tape manufacturer, new releases on cassette. In an age of music streaming, why choose this physical object? Rather than seeking a single answer, the documentary records how people's reasons differ according to their relationship with it.
The work visits four people: someone who creates a place to listen, someone who makes tapes, a collector and a musician who releases work on cassette. One interviewer asks each of them the same three questions. Through the differences in their answers, the documentary explores the relationships between people and cassette tapes.
Part of the ongoing cultural series Cultural Intoxication. Filmed between July and September 2026, the work is being edited as a two-part documentary.
