The Cooking Paradox and Editing Everyday Life

文化的酩酊 Vol.2 — マイクを前に話す長谷川あかり
OVERVIEW

Talk Event

Cultural Intoxication Vol.2. A talk event and companion booklet featuring cook and recipe writer Akari Hasegawa. Held at sabo beer bar & bookstore on 20 June 2026.

Starting with the tension between cooking and watching others cook, the project asked why Hasegawa's recipes and words resonate with contemporary everyday life. Beyond speed and simplicity, it considered cooking as a way of editing everyday life: deciding what to leave out and where to keep the effort.

A companion booklet of around 20 pages was distributed at the venue. Drawing on Michael Pollan's Cooked, the history of intentional living, everyday aesthetics and care, it set out seven perspectives on the cultural context and eight ways of understanding Hasegawa's approach. It also included a four-quadrant map of cooks and a reading guide.
